Where to eat in Amman? The best spots in town

Najla

This lovely place serves incredibly tasty Jordanian cuisine and is the perfect restaurant for an abundant and delicious lunch experience. The owner uses her grandmother’s recipes and takes you on a trip through the Middle East with her amazing cooking! The athmosphere is lovely and the food absolutely delicious, which makes it one of the best foodie spots in Amman.

Pepper & Pine

The very best place to go for a quick breakfast! From wraps to salads to toast, you can choose all the toppings you like or you can just pick something of the menu! Their shakshuka is to die for! You can find Pepper & Pine at 11 Fawazi Al Qawegji St Abdoun, close to Seed, another gem described further down in this article.

Tip: Do like the locals do and visit one of the local souks in Amman and have a picnic in one of the beautiful public parks Amman is known for!

Shams El Balad

This shop/bakery is a great place to find souvenirs and get some lovely pastries! They focus on local sourcing, seasonality and sustainability, and they’re all about connecting Jordans food heritage with their contemporary identity! You can find Shams El Balad at Mu’Ath Bin Jabal Street 69.

Fatatri

My absolute favourite place to eat the Egyptian/Jordanian dish named Feteer! If you haven’t tried this yet, then you should realllly go and GET IT! It’s like a 9 layer pizza filled with all kinds of goodness and you will never forget your first bite, absolutely delicious! You can find Fatatri, and many other amazing restaurants on Rainbow Street.

Al Quds

This is the place to go get a big portion of incredibly delicious falafel. Go early or be prepared to queue up with the locals because their falafel sandwiches are in very high demand around lunchtime. Al Quds is a tiny hole in the wall without seating, so enjoy your falafel al fresco while enjoying the hustle and bustle of Rainbow Street.

Tip: Rainbow Street is one of the most fun and lively streets in downtown Amman. It might be a little bit touristy but there are a lot of cute shops and restaurants to visit. It’s also the perfect place for people watching!

Sufra

Another gem on Rainbow Street! This is definitely my number one restaurant to visit in Amman! Book a table in the garden, which is without a doubt one of the most amazing in Amman, and enjoy traditional and authentic Jordanian food. Dishes range from the homely and hearty to lighter mezze bites, all accompanied by delicious fresh-baked bread. This is definitely a place to linger over a meal and savour flavours while soaking up its incredible atmosphere, whether it’s a romantic dinner for two or a summer lunch with friends.

Seed

The ideal place to get a quick healthy snack or fresh pressed juice! There are not a lot of places like Seed in Amman, which makes it a great spot to squeeze in some variety during your trip. They also serve a mean espresso and have lots of vegan and gluten free options. You can find Seed at Fawzi Al-Qawekji St. 2, close to Pepper & Pine.

Tip: My favourite drink in Jordan is fresh lime juice with mint! It’s super refreshing and almost every restaurant serves its own version of it!

Hashem

Get the hummus, get the moutabel, get the falafel, just get everything! This little place has been pretty unchanged since 1952, and it will probably still be standing in 2152. It’s a very popular place among locals, but recently tourists have also discovered this culinary delight. At Hashem you can find delicious and easy food with a really nice atmosphere. You can find Hashem Restaurant at King Faisal Street.
